Today, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Colorado. My private practice focus is on holistic therapy, helping people move through grief, stress, depression, anxiety, trauma, and life transitions. I use a wide variety of techniques including Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR), Brainspotting and Neuro-Emotional Technique (NET). I was introduced to Essential Oil therapy and Somatic Archaeology™ several years ago, and was so encouraged by the success of these techniques that I received training in both and now use them frequently in my practice. I am also using Qigong (pronounced “chee-gawng”) in my practice as a way to restore balance and harmony, and am currently in training at The Center Place to be an Energy Practitioner (combining Qi Gong and Healing Touch). I trust these techniques because I have experienced their healing benefits first-hand.

Prior to opening my practice in 2005, I worked in city government where I enjoyed helping people. After receiving my BS in Criminal Justice at Metro State College, I went to the University of Colorado at Denver and earned a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology. I am a Colorado native and still live in my hometown, Arvada. I enjoy photography, gardening, cooking, camping, hiking, dirt bike riding, and my dogs, cats, parakeets and all the visitors in our yard.
I have wondered how counselors and therapists can be truly effective if they have not experienced the benefits of counseling themselves. I was introduced to counseling in 1986 after the suicide of my older sister. I was just 21. I continued in counseling in the mid 90s when I struggled with depression and anxiety, and again resumed counseling after a roll-over crash in 2003 led to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. I believe in the healing process of counseling. But this journey has taken me beyond traditional counseling.
During my battle with depression, doctors prescribed anti-depressants. But they were toxic for me, creating severe anxiety and panic, as well as weight gain, stomach upset, dry mouth, and insomnia. I sought alternatives, and with the aid of a holistic "team" consisting of a counselor, chiropractor, energy worker and nutritionist I was able to find health, wellness and balance without drugs. I am convinced that a holistic approach that balances body, mind and spirit in the person as a whole, is the most effective approach.
